Indicative only. Old regime only; the new regime allows none of these except 80CCD(2) employer NPS. Caps for FY 2025-26. 80E, 80G, 80GG, 80U and HRA are not included because they have no fixed cap or depend on other figures.

How it works

Enter what you have

Each section has a ceiling. The checker caps what you enter and shows the balance.

Room × slab

Unused room multiplied by your marginal rate (plus 4% cess) is the tax you could still save this year.

Before 31 March

80C and 80D investments count in the year they are paid, so the room closes at year end.

Whether the old regime is worth it

Under the new regime the only salary deductions are the ₹75,000 standard deduction and employer NPS. The old regime is better only when 80C, 80D, HRA and home-loan interest together exceed roughly ₹3.75 lakh for a ₹12–15 lakh earner, and more as income rises. Use this checker to see how close you are, then the income tax calculator to compare the two regimes with your actual numbers.

80C fills itself

Employee PF alone is often ₹50,000–90,000. Count it before buying ELSS or insurance for the deduction.

80D includes check-ups

₹5,000 of preventive health check-up is deductible within the 80D limit, even paid in cash.

Parents' cover is separate

Premium paid for parents has its own ₹25,000/₹50,000 limit, on top of your family's.

Interest caps

80TTA is savings-account interest only, ₹10,000. Seniors get 80TTB at ₹50,000 covering FD interest too.
