How it works

Two interest legs

1% a month from when TDS was deductible until deducted; 1.5% a month from deduction until deposit.

Part months

Any part of a month counts as a whole month on both legs.

234E fee

₹200 a day from the return due date, capped at the TDS for that quarter.

The real cost of a missed TDS date

TDS defaults compound: a late deduction attracts 1% a month, a late deposit 1.5% a month, and a late quarterly return ₹200 a day, each on its own clock. Enter the amounts and dates and the calculator shows each component and the total, so a client can see why a two-week delay on a ₹5 lakh deduction costs more than they expected.

Three dates

Deductible, deducted, deposited. Each gap is charged separately.

Month counting

The 8th of the month is as expensive as the 30th.

Fee cap

234E cannot exceed the TDS deductible for the quarter.

What is excluded

271H penalty and 30% expense disallowance are separate exposures.
