How it works
Letterhead
Company details, reference and date at the top, as the next employer's HR expects.
Tenure
Joining and last working day give the exact years and months; designation and department as at exit.
Tone
Pick the conduct line and the dues statement, or omit either, then preview and print.
Experience letter vs relieving letter
An experience letter certifies the period of employment, the role and, usually, the conduct; a relieving letter confirms the employee has been released from duties on a date and has no pending obligations. Most Indian employers issue one document doing both, which is what new employers and background-verification agencies ask for. Keep it factual: dates, designation, department, and a neutral conduct line. Negative remarks belong in a separate reference, if at all.
Issue within the notice period
The Shops and Establishments Acts of several states and most HR policies require it on the last working day along with the full and final settlement.
Dates must match
Background checks compare the letter with PF records (UAN service history) and Form 16; mismatched dates trigger escalations.
No salary figures
Salary belongs on the salary certificate and payslips, not here, unless the employee asks.
Signature and stamp
Signed by HR or the reporting authority with designation and the company seal; a digital letter should carry a verifiable reference number.
