How it works

Consignor and consignee

Who is sending and who is receiving. For a stock transfer between your own branches both carry your GSTIN.

Reason and transport

Pick the reason for movement, add the vehicle number, mode and e-way bill number if the value is above ₹50,000.

Goods and value

Describe the goods with HSN and quantity. Show tax only where it applies; most challans are issued without it.

When goods move without a tax invoice

Rule 55 of the CGST Rules lets goods move on a delivery challan instead of a tax invoice when there is no supply yet: sending material to a job worker, moving stock between branches under the same GSTIN, goods sent on approval, liquid gas where the quantity is unknown at dispatch, or a machine dispatched in parts. The challan must be in triplicate (original for consignee, duplicate for transporter, triplicate for consignor), serially numbered, and carry the details this generator prints.

E-way bill still applies

Above ₹50,000 in value the e-way bill is generated against the challan number, not an invoice.

Job work timelines

Inputs must return within one year and capital goods within three, or the dispatch is treated as a supply from the original date.

Goods on approval

If the customer keeps them, the tax invoice is issued at acceptance or six months from dispatch, whichever is earlier.

Serial numbering

One series per financial year, up to 16 characters, as for invoices.
